 SC issues notice to FIA, federation on PTI chief’s bail plea in cipher case

The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday issued notice to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the federation on PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s bail plea in the cipher case.

The court also adjourned the hearing on Imran’s bail plea for an indefinite period.

A three-member bench, led by Justice Sardar Tariq, took charge of the proceedings.

The courtroom atmosphere was charged as Chairman PTI’s lawyer, Salman Safdar, stepped forward to present arguments.

On the opposing side, Deputy Attorney General Malik Javed represented the federal government, adding to the gravity of the legal clash.

PTI lawyer Salman Safdar requested the court to give a future date for hearing, but the plea was rejected with Justice Sardar Tariq stating that the date of the next hearing will be fixed by the Registrar’s Office.

Justice Tariq also remarked that issuing notice to the parties is required by law and Imran Khan cannot be granted bail without giving notice to the parties.

Imran’s lawyer stated that the case against his client is a result of malice and political revenge, highlighting that the FIR against PTI chairman was filed seven months late.

Safdar also mentioned that the case was made against PTI Chairman after he stepped down from the poer.

The order issued by the judge stated that the crux of the matter lay in the challenge posed by PTI chairman against the rejection of his bail application.

Also stated that Imran’s legal representative vehemently asserted that no crime had transpired, underlining the innocence of his client.

The PTI lawyer Salman Safdar revealed the submission of a threat letter from the United States at the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting, the order wrote.

The Supreme Court promptly issued notices on the bail application.

The notices were directed to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the federation and complainant of Home Secretary, signifying the widespread implications of the case.

The court adjourned the hearing on Imran’s bail plea for an indefinite period.
